This art depicts a story of a mom struggling for survival with it's kid having no place to go and no food to eat. The drawing intends to bring out the intensity of the problem that our co-species facing currently. Every single element added here does hold a significance and they're next in line of extinction. Here are some important facts! Coral reefs are endangered due to rising sea temperatures, study says they're experiencing severe heat stress. Monarch butterfly has lost it's habitat and due to increased use of pesticides and loss of milkweed populations they're vulnerable to extinct. It has become next to impossible for the Polar bears to hunt for prey because of the rise in temperatures and they went to the extent of following cannibalism. Snow leopard has lost its habitat as well. Penguin, it is stated that the climate change is melting ice, which impacts on krill, the food which the penguins, seals and whales live on. Sea birds aren't unable to adapt which indeed risks the availability of prey and thus making them vulnerable to extinction. Giraffe are vulnerable to extinction because of change in habitat and food loss human-caused climate change are causing today’s 40% decline in giraffe populations. Giant panda habitat destruction causing loss of food. Koalas do you know that they're the only species who feeds completely on eucalyptus. The increase in CO2 emission the chemcial structure of the plant has changed causing it to be inedible. It's high time we take timely action and save their life.
Climate has been changing since the beginning of earth. Thats the reason why dinosaurs lived and died. Many species lived and then turned to ashes. But the main problem is ,Our existence as humans and our activities have accelerated the temperature and climatic conditions. Which has been proving very difficult for other species to adopt to. Because of which many species are getting endangered and extinct. So the solution to it is to try and adopt eco-friendly products, lifestyle and energy resources so that the Carbon dioxide emission can be reduced, temperature rise can be slowed down and helping Species to restore their population
Impact of climate change: Extreme weather events, cyclones, draught, ice cap melting, sea level rise, water scarcity, pain & suffering. ...Extreme weather events like cyclone & draught lies in opposite contrast to each other (represented here in the opposite side of the eye-shaped figure). Meanwhile the whole world is suffering pain (represented here as the tear in the eye shaped figure & earth as the eye-ball). Also the globe in water represents the sea level rise. From there and from the Antarctic ice cap melting, the tear drop coming down on the dried up cracked ground, is resembling water scarcity.
In the eastern part of the Sundarbans there is a dire problem that has emerged over the years as a result of climate change. With the rising seas levels, the habitat and the hunting grounds of the Bengal Tiger have decreased resulting in the tiger moving deeper into the forests, closer to human settlements. Humans are simultaneously being forced out of their farmlands due to the increased salinity of the water and into forests in search of honey and crabs. The forests then become the zone for human-wildlife conflict where tiger attacks are rampant and communities, especially the women who are left widows, are tremendously affected. To ward off tiger attacks, people venturing into the forests are encouraged to wear masks (as shown in the illustration) at the back of their heads which have expressions of shocking glare as it is said that a tiger will not attack if one looks straight at it. This situation unfolding in the Sundarbans has created climate refugees and an exodus of younger generations into bigger cities like Kolkata, resulting in a movement away from traditional livelihoods such as fishing and farming. The Bengal tigers are suffering too and are projected to vanish from the Sundarbans by 2070 due to climate change and the rising seawater levels. This illustration is an attempt to explain this complex situation that is unfolding in the Sundarbans. It is also an example of how climate change has myriads of consequences on humans, animals, the economy, society, politics and more. Climate action has never been more important than now.
Title : The Future Welcome to the year 2030. Broken bottles, charred pieces of glass, forest fire and dead animals. There will be no sunrise. There will be no oxygen to breath. There will be no more luxury in destroying the planet. The war will come to an end. Every living being will be dying in-front of you. You will be standing in the destructive zone with no hope. What have I done ? Why didn’t i stop and notice that earth was weeping. Our fate is in our hands. Let's TAKE A MINUTE AND START NOTICING
This Painting has been dedicated to the theme PRESERVE BIODIVERSITY ..We Human Being who should be the biggest Saviour of Mother Earth has emerged as Biggest Destroyer of our Ecological system..We are ruining it via our various destructive activities such as Cutting the forest..fires in the wood..Porching etc this imiting their natural habitats..because of this EXTINCTION OF SPECIES is taking place ..& due to this BIODEVERSITY is declining..Therefore now we should open our third eye & instead of DESTROYER we should enact as SAVIOUR of our Planet Earth..Thanks
Through my work, I wanted to imply the catastrophic events that have taken place in this century. From forest fires, to the grave and toxic amounts of plastics found in the oceans, choking fishes and water life to endangered lives of pandas and global warming. The earth is our home, and we’ve been taking that for granted. That needs to change. We’ll need to do our part. Through this artwork, I wanted to send a simple thought provoking message.
My art portrays 'The Tug War between Human and Nature ' Any art can be viewed from different perspectives , these are the points that I incorporated into my drawing: 1)My art shows how the end results in if either one gives up. 2)Human side is enlarged than the nature side showing the increase in industrialization , war and pollution. 3)Earth is broken showing lack of water and drought which implies global warming climax 4)The dead animal implies extinction, if not killed might had played a very important role in the war between nature and human 5)My art is just an eye opening about all the factors that can lead to climate change and the primary reason behind it - HUMANS. P.S. there are few other small details too!!
In contrast to the “Tree of evolution” which put humans at the top of the food chain, this artificially growing man made tree is likely to make humans, extinct. In this artwork, tree represents the human activities which are directly/indirectly triggering the climate change. Major issues like Drought, Wildfires, Hunger, Hurricanes, Submerged cities due to rising sea levels and Melting glaciers are branching out of the tree which is being nurtured by human ignorance and greed. The man with an axe represents the current human civilisation which has to decide whether they should be cutting the right tree this time.
My art was inspired by the artwork of the amazing american potter, Jonathan Adler. I used graphite pencils for my artwork because I did not want to put colors into it, so that anyone who sees the art would immediately focus on the details and the message behind the art. I am portraying the water pollution that is happening globally.
Waste management as a process only works when it's tackled at the source. This project is a collection of artwork made entirely from household plastics and cardboard, collected on a day to day basis. Packaging plastic, foil, wrapping paper, cardboard, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc are most of the materials which are used to form the base of each artwork. Children of Yemen focuses on the relentless growth of environmental issues on this war torn country.
Climate crisis and COVID acted as a twin demon to push the poor ( mostly from countries of south asia, africa, middle east etc) into a terrible condition. the worried faces, hungry bowels, and depressed brains all illustrated in my art work is the explicit description of the situation. soaring prices due erratic rainfall, drought, loss of agro based jobs, loss of subsistence food security, climate refugees, diseases points to the wreckage of climate change. COVID, being an icing on the cake, led to widespread deaths, loss of livelihood, displacement, migration , leading to unbelievable poverty statistics in India as well as other mentioned countries. my artwork is the description of how covid -climate change dual danger destabilished numerous lives into poverty !
Climate change is also affecting our oceans. Changes in water temperature can affect the environments where fish, shellfish, and other marine species live. Climate change causes the oceans to become warmer year-round. The acidity of seawater is increasing as a direct result of increasing carbon dioxide levels in the air from human activities, like burning fossil fuels. I have tried to emphasis the impact of climate change on aquatic life in my art, although I have included its impact on humans too. The warm shades in my art show the increase in temperature (the affected area). The mermaid represents both human and aquatic life, mother protecting its child from the harm like how we should protect our environment from harm. The orange melting shows how the plants and forests are on fire.
